The Basic Patternmaking course is a professional specialization program designed to provide participants with the necessary skills to develop clothing patterns. Through theoretical lessons and practical-technical demonstrations, participants will acquire specific abilities to design and create patterns.

The curriculum is structured based on students' initial skills, allowing for a progression from a basic level to advanced training. This makes the course suitable for both beginners and those with some prior tailoring experience or sewing skills who wish to deepen their knowledge of patternmaking techniques and pattern creation.

The goal of the course is to refine the skills of those who want to enhance their professional expertise, equipping them with the necessary knowledge to work more competently in the fashion industry.

Course Objectives

The short course for patternmaking technicians allows participants to explore and experiment with key methodologies used in creative fashion production. Specifically, it provides specialized training in:

• Patternmaking techniques
• Creation of basic patterns
• Development of experimental pattern projects

Participants will be guided through the entire process, first working on basic garments and later on experimental projects involving different volumes. By the end of the course, students will have acquired a new methodology and technical skills to independently handle a fashion project. They will be able to cut a fashion garment using a self-created pattern, test the fit, and make necessary adjustments to achieve the final piece.

Course Content

The course focuses on the study of women’s patternmaking for the construction of both basic and creative models, incorporating complex constructions and integrated 3D patternmaking techniques. The program will cover:

• Construction of basic garments, progressing to more complex pieces
• Analysis of Courses fashion trends to adapt basic garment structures to current styles
• Introduction to Moulage techniques in patternmaking to experiment with draping and combine multiple construction techniques
• Skills for identifying and correcting garment defects and adjusting the pattern accordingly

Who is our ideal candidate?

The course is designed for individuals who already acquired a fashion design or patternmaking diploma from a fashion school, as well as for self-taught tailors who already possess basic patternmaking knowledge and wish to refine their skills through experimental projects.

Admission Process

The course has limited enrollment. Candidates will be selected based on the following requirements:

• Minimum age of 18 years
• Basic knowledge of patternmaking or tailoring

Course Fees

• Cost: €800.00 (to be paid by the first day of class)

Exams and Certification

The issued certificate is accredited by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation of Albania. It is recognized in the job market.
